Shirley Brannock Jones (born June 29, 1925) is a former United States federal judge. Born in Cambridge, Maryland, Jones received an A.A. from the University of Baltimore Junior College in 1944 and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1946. She was an Attorney, Maryland Department of Employment Security from 1946 to 1952. She was an Assistant city solicitor, City of Baltimore, Maryland from 1952 to 1958. She was an Assistant state attorney general of Maryland from 1958 to 1959. She was a judge on the Orphan's Court, City of Baltimore, Maryland from 1959 to 1961. She was a judge on the Supreme Bench of Baltimore, Maryland from 1961 to 1979. She was a Lecturer in legal ethics, University of Baltimore School of Law from 1961 to 1968. Private practice, Baltimore, Maryland, 1982–present. Jones was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Jones was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on May 22, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 4, 1979, and received her commission on October 5, 1979.
